Mints and sweets have been on the counters of countless businesses in Europe for many years and you can find a bowl of them in banks, branch offices of insurance companies and travel agents, and reception areas in many offices where you can help yourself to them.  Most people like mints and of all the promotional confectionery they are the most popular.

Individual promotional mints are not very big and therefore you will not be able to print very much on the wrappers but you will be able to print something.  Unfortunately the likelihood is that the wrapper will be thrown away so they are not particularly effective for brand awareness but are great for goodwill.  Depending on the type of mint, you can have them enclosed in small cardboard or plastic containers and in a variety of tins which remain useful receptacles for other items when the mints have been consumed.  The customer can then carry the container in his pocket and enjoy the mints at leisure.  Keeping a stock of loose mints is a way to influence the customer to return, on the premise that you will refill the container when he next visits.

One only has to look at the After Eight packaging to see how effective a box of mints is.  We recognise the box before we see the name.  You should aspire to this if using mints in a marketing campaign.  The packaging on your promotional mints will need to have an association with your products rather than the mints, because clearly you are not moving into the confectionery market. The wrapper will be discarded and after they have consumed the mint it will be forgotten in a couple of minutes when the taste had worn off, Hence, as previously stated, the marketing and brand awareness value is practically zero when they are used in this way. However, giving away boxes, tins or other containers filled with mints is definitely worth considering because then they become unforgettable promotional mints.
